Let it stream, let it stream. And freely to boot!
Mountain View-based Pinnacle Systems announced availability today of its new Studio Basic for RealVideo, a free downloadable video editing software for creating and distributing streaming video. The product is a result of an alliance between Pinnacle, which specializes in digital video editing software, and streaming media powerhouse RealNetworks.
Using Studio Basic, consumers can convert any existing digital video format into streaming media, as well as add basic effects like titles, scene transitions, music, sound effects, and narration. The software includes 16 professional-style scene transitions and more than 300 styles for titles.
"People who produce digital video content care about video quality, so we think they'll be thrilled that we integrated RealVideo into this product," says Bill Loesch, VP of Pinnacle Systems' consumer business group. "RealNetworks offers superior quality to other streaming video formats."
Loesch adds that consumers seeking even higher-end streaming capability can now purchase Studio Plus for RealVideo, which offers all the features found in Studio Basic, but adds more than 100 professional style transitions, a library of over 100 sound effects, and a library of music for soundtracks. The software also enables output back to tape via a PC's FireWire port, and retails for $89.95. For users without a FireWire port on their PC, Studio Solution for RealVideo ($149.95) includes the Studio Plus video editing software and comes with a FireWire PCI board.
"The award-winning VHS quality of RealVideo and the ubiquitous efficiency of RealSystem has spurred content developers to make their programming available to a rapidly growing, media hungry Internet audience," says Ben Rotholtz, general manager, products and systems, RealNetworks. "Once again, Pinnacle Systems has demonstrated leadership in digital video editing products with Studio Basic video software, making it straightforward to create and stream RealVideo content."
All three products mentioned are available via the RealNetworks download site.
