The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences is extending its call for entries for its 6th Annual Webby Awards.
The deadline for entries was January 31st, but according to Maya Draisin, executive director of the Academy, responses to this year's call for entries have exceeded expectations, with submissions arriving from 35 countries and 44 states. Countries submitting sites for the first time include Brazil, Cyprus, Czechoslovakia, Korea, and Trinidad & Tobago.
The new deadline is Friday, February 15, 2002.
Called by some the "Oscars of the Internet," The Webby Awards is an international honor for Web sites and individual achievement in technology and creativity.
The awards are presented by the Academy, a diverse, 350-person organization whose membership includes Esther Dyson, Susan Sarandon, David Bowie, and Larry Ellison. Winners of The 6th Annual Webby Awards will be announced in May 2002 in San Francisco.
The Sixth Annual Webby Awards is seeking submissions in thirty categories: Activism, Best Practices, Broadband, Commerce, Community, Education, Fashion, Film, Finance, Games, Government & Law, Health, Humor, Kids, Living, Music, NetArt, News, Personal Web Site, Politics, Print & Zines, Radio, Science, Services, Spirituality, Sports, Technical Achievement, Travel, TV, and Weird.
