Mark Breier, a former Amazon.com and Beyond.com executive, has joined with Conservation International (CI). The nonprofit organization's aim is to conserve biodiversity in the planet's richest and most threatened "hotspot" ecosystems, by offering `act fast' energy conservation tips designed to promote new, innovative ways to reduce energy consumption at the office and at home during the current energy crisis.

Breier the ex-CEO of Beyond.com and VP of marketing at Amazon.com has been appointed to CI's Chairman's Council, a select group of dedicated advocates of biodiversity conservation who help raise awareness and financial support for CI's mission. Breier is donating $1 to CI ($20,000 max) every time someone orders a free on-line chapter of his book, "The 10-Second Internet Manager" or subscribes to a related email newsletter.

"CI's goal is to preserve the 1.4 percent of the land surface, which supports 60 percent plus of the world's biodiversity," says Breier, a resident of Los Altos Hills, Calif. His business management book "The 10-Second Internet Manager," explores the `Act Fast' secrets of industry leaders such as Amazon, Dell, Yahoo and AOL. Says Breier: "CI recognizes that we must embrace an `act fast, act smart' philosophy to preserve these precious world resources before they are destroyed. In today's work, no issue is more urgent or delivers such a high return on investment."
