Holidays Go On the Internet Auction Block

Virgin Holidays Ltd. and Toronto, Ontario-based Internet Liquidators International (ILI) inked an exclusive agreement to auction travel packages on BID.COM, ILI's online auction site.

The online auctions of last-minute travel deals--the first of their kind in Canada--launched this week with the promise of offering Canadian consumers unprecedented travel deals.

"Virgin Holidays was one of the first retail travel agencies in Canada to invest heavily in the Internet as an information tool for our clients, and we already service a growing number of customers via our Web site," said Jonathan Carroll, President of Virgin Holidays Ltd.

"We recognized the potential and made the commitment to provide a live auction of travel packages via the Internet. By selling last-minute travel on the Internet through BID.COM, we will be able to offer price and service advantages over our competition."

More than a dozen air/hotel and all-inclusive holidays will go on the block over the next two weeks for destinations including Nassau, St. Maarten, and Las Vegas.

Virgin Holidays has been using travel technology extensively, including its Computer Reservations Systems, a sophisticated network allowing a high degree of office automation and a substantial Web site/Internet presence.

BID.COM was founded in 1995 and listed on The Toronto Stock Exchange in February 1998. With offices in Toronto and Tampa, it is one of the leading online auction sales organizations.
