Real Networks' Entertainment Center Hits the Net Waves

Seattle.internet.com has learned that Real Networks will release today new versions of three of their downloads in an integrated suite of products known as Real Entertainment Center. The package combines RealPlayer8, RealJukebox2, and RealDownload4 (formerly known as Download Demon). The Entertainment Center can be downloaded for free from the company's website.

By combining the three products, the company hopes to take the next step in digital entertainment. According to Product Manager Gary Cowan, the advantages of the suite, are shared components of code (which save space) and a consistent user interface for ease of navigation. In addition, the new versions provide several updated features, including: a Radio Tuner, support for flash4 and streaming MP3 and a media search which includes contextual search within A/V clips.

Cowan believes the Entertainment Center, which has an OS-independent structure and a broad support of various internet media formats, will provide great opportunities for the company's partners. Real provides consumers with access to what Cowan describes as "a complete digital entertainment solution," which in turn will bring increased traffic to the company's content providers.
