Partners Claim Largest Literary Web Site

Sympatico, one of Canada's leading Internet service and online Web sites, and The Bookshelf, an independent Guelph, Ontario-based bookstore, launched Canada's first full-featured Internet bookstore.

In addition to selling books, "the site allows readers to listen to Canada's greatest authors reading from their own works, scan insightful book reviews written by experts, trade information with other book lovers, and browse through titles by subject, author, and category," said Andrew Nopper, Project Manager.

"We have one of the best selections of English-language book titles the world has ever seen, thanks to our unique and comprehensive book catalog," said Nopper.

"And we have something no other online bookseller in North America offers--books from the U.K. and the British Commonwealth which find their way only into the richly diverse Canadian book market."

With information revised daily, bookshelf.ca is hoping to be the biggest online bookstore and most up-to-date literary Web site in the world.

Books are competitively discounted and the final cost for regularly priced books will often be less than the cost of discounted books purchased from U.S.-based online booksellers.

Americans also stand to save money by shopping Canadian, with the favorable exchange rate and the lower prices charged on American books in Canada.
