Ray Ozzie Touts Pervasive Cloud Services

  • Ray Ozzie, reminded everyone at Microsoft that he's still very much around. Last month Ozzie, Bill Gates' hand-picked successor as chief software architect, announced his plans to retire from the software giant after a transition period.

    But as Datamation reports, Ozzie remains active in his role at Microsoft, writing a detailed treatise on the state of the company. In the blog post, Ozzie recapped Microsoft's accomplishments over the past five years as well as where he thinks the company's fallen short. He also gave a tantalizing view of what new services lie ahead.


    In a lengthy state-of-the-company report, Microsoft's Ray Ozzie recapped the software giant's accomplishments in Web services, but also pointed out where the it has come up short. Ozzie announced his plans to retire from Microsoft, after a period of transition, earlier this month.

    Ozzie criticized Microsoft's (NASDAQ: MSFT) execution in certain areas, crediting unnamed "competitors" in a not-so-subtle not to Apple's (NASDAQ: AAPL) iPhone and iPad, and possibly others.
