Rare Medium Snaps Up Canadian Hype!

Hype! Inc., one of Canada's top Internet marketing and communications firms, is to be acquired by Rare Medium, Inc., a strategic Internet services firm that extends brands and business models to the Web.

Established in 1994, Hype! creates e-commerce and branding solutions that fuse Web-to-legacy connectivity, database design, and innovative, interactive elements.

They have received Best of the Best awards from Microsoft and Internet Life, and created Web sites or intranets for Players Racing Team, Dun & Bradstreet Canada, William M. Mercer Ltd., Motorola Information Systems Group (Canada), and Johnson & Johnson Medical Products.

Rare Medium is a significant player in an evolving industry that includes interactive advertising agencies and systems integration companies with a Web focus. They have worked with companies such as Pfizer, The New York Times, Microsoft, Nabisco, Sharp, General Mills, and Johnson & Johnson.

"Hype! adds to our overall strengths as an enabler of direct market interaction and gives us an immediate and valuable leadership position in the Canadian market," said Glenn S. Meyers, president and CEO of Rare Medium. "Hype's customers benefit, too, as they gain access to a broad talent pool and additional resources."

With this transaction, Rare Medium will have approximately 150 professionals and offices in New York, L.A., Phoenix, Atlanta, and Toronto.
