Hewlett-Packard Co. Tuesday introduced its newest network management product designed to help system administrators monitor and analyze intranet performance.
HP said its OpenView Metrix Site Manager for Windows NT gives small and medium-size businesses the ability to quickly troubleshoot network problems. By providing historical data, the program also helps companies identify and analyze traffic trends useful for planning network expansions.
The product is ideal for smaller businesses, the company said, because it's both easier to configure and less expensive than UNIX-based solutions.
"Customers tell us that there are several essential capabilities for a network-performance management solution," said Belinda Yung-Rubke, marketing manager of HP's NetMatrix division. "Those capabilities include operating-system independence, support for leading industry standards and the ability to provide meaningful information that IT managers can use to ensure optimal network performance.
The product retails for $5,745. Existing OpenView customers participating in a subscription upgrade service can receive the update free.
