Microsoft Upgrades Small Business Server

Microsoft Canada has announced the immediate, worldwide availability of a free Internet Technologies upgrade kit for its Small Business Server (SBS) 4.0 product.

SBS is intended to help small businesses address basic networking and office productivity needs by simplifying how they connect to the Internet, manage e-mail and contacts, and fax from any desktop.

The upgrade improves both performance and security by adding Internet Proxy Server version 2.0 and the Windows NT 4.0 option pack to the SBS suite.

Proxy 2.0 makes Internet access faster for end users and saves money by reducing connection times and improving security, which means that small businesses can feel even more confident about establishing a presence on the Internet. The Windows NT Option Pack offers further Internet related functionality.

Microsoft Canada recommends that small businesses consult with their local Microsoft Certified Solutions Providers about the Internet Technologies upgrade kit, which has an approximate value of (CAN)$785.

"Small and medium-sized business customers have always appreciated the value of Microsoft Small Business Server and its clean, clear, and concise interface," said Paul Christilaw, product manager, Microsoft Small Business Server, Microsoft Canada. "This upgrade allows smaller businesses to compete in the e-commerce forum without compromising security.
