OzEmail Kicks Off WAP with Stock Service

ISP OzEmail has launched its Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) offering by providing one of its most popular services available to WAP mobile phones.

The StockWatch service will offer live share quotes and the extra functionality for subscribers, in a quest to provide more than news and horoscopes for WAP users.

Members of StockWatch and StockWatch Plus will be able to use existing login and password access to view portfolios and individual stocks within these portfolios, including specific details such as high, low, volume, present value and gain/loss. They can also access market indices, live snap quotes, daily business news headlines and a daily market summary.

OzEmail Internet general manager Justin Milne intends to use StockWatch WAP not only to leverage the portal site's current browser service, but as a starting point for more WAP content offerings.

Meanwhile, former OzEmail chief executive officer David Spance has been appointed executive chairman of multimedia service provider Access1. As part of his salary package, Spence will be issued three million options exercisable over the next three years for between AUD $0.50 (US $0.29) and AUD $0.70 (US $0.41), provided he remains employed by Access1.

Spence was previously one of Access1's directors.
