Underground Photo Exhibition Goes Online

Scandinavian IT firm WM-data is working with artists in Stockholm to bring an international photographic exhibition online to visitors who can't get to Sweden.

Running until January 3, 1999, Under/Exposed is a unique photographic exhibition in which billboard ads in the Stokholm Underground are replaced by over 700 photos from more than 200 international photographers. Its objective is to show the qualities, diversity and richness of photography to the public at large.

To make the exhibition accessible to a worldwide audience, WM-data created a Web site from which visitors can view the photos selected by photographer and underground station, take a virtual tour or create their own album.

Exhibition spokesman Christer Alm said the Web site will promote the vision of the exhibition around the world, and it's great that Web surfers are able to experience it.

The exhibition is expected to attract more than 1.5 million underground visitors, plus thousands more via the Internet. Promoters say there are plans to present it in other underground systems worldwide as well.
