Vertical Markets Selects HotHouse

[Sydney, AUSTRALIA] Business-to-business (B2B) Internet company Vertical Markets has announced the appointment of Web development firm Hothouse to undertake all content and tools development for the planned rollout of online communities.

Hothouse has previously undertaken Web development work for clients including MacDonalds, Telstra, Coca Cola, Stuff Auctions and Womanzone, in a joint venture with the online division of Network Seven, i7.

Vertical Markets was launched earlier this year to capitalize on the growth of B2B e-commerce in Australia. Investment firm Allen & Buckeridge committed AUS $15 million (US $9 million) to the company, which plans to launch portal sites for science, government, electrical engineering and veterinary industries, then develop online business communities in multiple sectors of the economy.

Hothouse will build an online environment for Vertical Markets and then create a platform which allows for cost-effective maintenance.

Vertical Markets chief executive officer Peer Nielsen said HotHouse was chosen because of its high Australian profile. "The partnership will ensure our online communities are functionally superior in every sense," he said.
