[Vancouver, CANADA] NorthVoice Communications Inc., a provider of Internet Protocol (IP) telephony and other communication services, completed deployment of its Canadian Point of Presence (POP) in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal, while it continues its worldwide network roll-out.
"By building its network across the country in all of Canada's major cities, NorthVoice is the first national VoIP (Voice over IP) telephony provider to offer flat rate services to its customers," said Eric Chan, chief technical officer of NorthVoice.
For the network, NorthVoice uses Lucent Technologies' MultiVoice for the MAX and MAX TNT VoIP gateways, Access Point routers and NavisAccess network management software.
As the foundation of the network, Lucent's MultiVoice VoIP gateways enables NorthVoice to deliver on its mission through their reliability, voice quality and the ability to add new services easily, according to Chan.
Later this year, NorthVoice will include other services such as voice mail, international roaming, call home (reversed charges), follow me number, and unified messaging. Customers will be able to receive billing through a NorthVoice Internet access account or they can receive statements through e-mail.
