CommSecure Counts Cable & Wireless Pennies

[Sydney, AUSTRALIA] Secure online payments providerCommSecure has announced it will provide the Internet payment gateway for telecommunications carrier Cable and Wireless Optus' (CWO) new PennySmart Web site, aimed at Australian small businesses.

PennySmart, a joint venture with the My Money Group, is part of an ongoing initiative by CWO to support and promote the needs of Australian small businesses.

In addition to small business news, information and advice provided by My Money, the site enables small businesses to purchase over 5,000 office products through its online E-Mart office supplies supermarket.

The deal stems from a wider agreement where CommSecure agreed to process credit card transactions for the My Money Group, who host three small business and personal finance Web sites.

"The provision of value-added services via the Internet is a central part of Optus' strategy to increase its penetration of the small business market," a spokesperson said. "Broad business trends indicate that businesses will increasingly turn to the Internet for information and transactions, so affiliations with leading-edge e-commerce players such as CommSecure will become even more important than ever to Optus."
