[Sydney, AUSTRALIA] Telstra have formed an agreement to provide online shopping through Telstra's WAP service. Consumers will be able to purchase goods such as toys, video games, sports, health goods videos, DVDs and music.
Dstore CEO, David Gold said "dstore is focused on providing delivery mechanism which will make online shopping as easy and convenient as possible for consumers." Customers using the service will make purchases by entering their credit card details into their phones.
Gold and Telstra have further plans to use the WAP platform for cross-marketing campaigns. "WAP technology has the potential to give consumers the ability to take advantage of special promotions. For example, dstore could send a text message to spectators on a swimwear promotion following the Olympics swimming finals. WAP mobile users could purchase this merchandise through their phone," said Gold.
The partnership follows the appointment of Christine Wood as director of new media at dstore. Wood has been appointed to expand the company's presence by driving a multi-channel strategy. "The marketing opportunities available through this partnership enable Telstra and dstore to significantly increase our respective customer bases by reaching a range of new and loyal customers wherever they may be," said Gold.
