eNIC Corporation, the worldwide Registry for the top level domain .cc, is on the lookout for the best designed .cc websites.
The Seattle-based company is currently running a monthly contest and reports that it will offer a grand prize of $25,000 for the overall winner at the end of the year. Monthly winners will receive $10,000.
According to the company's Director of Business Development Matthew Guiste, hundreds of companies have already submitted their sites since the contest began last Friday. "We are excited about the quality of sites that are coming in," says Guiste. The August winner will be announced in mid September.
And just because eNIC is Seattle-based does not mean that the Seattle area has more CCers than other locations. According to Guiste, the company receives a lot of registrations from companies in Europe and Asia. "Where ever there are people connected to the Net, there's a .cc."
eNIC's Chairman and CEO Brian Cartmell, received the rights for the worldwide marketing and technical administration of the .CC domain name from Cocos Keeling (located in the Indian Ocean) back in 1997.
According to Cartmell there are still a lot of great .cc domain names available.
Although, some companies like Clear Channel Communications or various country clubs are using the .cc for branding, the eNIC team is marketing the domain name as just another generic option to .com.
Back on the contest front, interested companies and individuals can sign up at www.enic.cc. According to Guiste, only sites that have .cc as the primary domain name should be submitted.
