Organic to Develop New Venture for Bell ActiMedia

[Toronto, CANADA] Bell ActiMedia has hired Organic Inc. to build its newest online business.

Bell ActiMedia is the Bell Canada subsidiary responsible for directory publishing, e-commerce solutions for small and medium-sized businesses, and Bell's Internet portal strategy.

Organic will provide Bell Actimedia with a broad range of Internet professional services, including strategic consulting, site development, and customer service and fulfillment services to support the new business.

The new online business, yet to be named, is expected to launch this Fall.

This is the second major Canadian client won by Organic's Toronto office, which was opened earlier this year. In May, Organic announced its first Canadian client for the office, Bank of Montreal.

"For years, Canadian businesses have looked to the Yellow Pages for the most complete, comprehensive directory of services available," said Serge Richard, Director of Internet & Electronic Commerce, Bell ActiMedia.

"With Organic's combination of strategic services, technology capabilities, interactive design and logistics expertise, our new online business will offer an unprecedented level of service."

Opened in January 2000, Organic's Toronto office is headed by Vice President and Managing Director Troy Young and Senior Director of Operations Cameron Bedford, both formerly of Vickers & Benson Direct, Interactive.

In business for over 80 years, Bell ActiMedia is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bell Canada, Canada's largest communications company.

It's responsible for database and directory publishing, e-commerce solutions for small and medium-sized businesses, and Internet portals, and is the parent company to Sympatico-Lycos.

Organic Inc., a professional services firm targeting the customer-to-business market, is built around a "buyer driven" service model that encompasses both traditional business-to-business and business-to-consumer engagements.

Founded in 1993 and based in San Francisco, Organic has a history as an industry innovator, having developed the Apache Web server and worked on the design of some of the Internet's earliest Web sites, including Yahoo!.

The company's C2B Internet professional services include strategic consulting and research, site design, software engineering and technical program management, online marketing services including media buying and management, and customer service and fulfillment consulting and transaction management.
