VerticalNet Unveils Software Division

VerticalNet Inc., a provider of end-to-end e-commerce solutions, Thursday debuted a B2B software division.

VerticalNet Solutions aims to sell and deliver comprehensive digital, open marketplace solutions to industry alliances, global 2000 enterprises, Internet marketers and existing VerticalNet communities.

The new division is dedicated to selling and delivering the most comprehensive product suite and services available in the industry, according to Zev Laderman, president and chief executive officer of VerticalNet Solutions.

"VerticalNet Solutions is the realization of a long-term strategy that has been accelerated by the demands of our customers and by the arrival of Joe Galli, VerticalNet's new president and CEO," said Laderman.

"We are in a position to leverage our experience as an owner/operator of 57 online communities," he added. "VerticalNet Solutions is laser-focused on providing software solutions that help customers build and manage open markets for the procurement of direct goods and that provide integration to traditional contract buying methods."

In tandem with the new division's launch, the company announced an upgrade for the eMarketplace Suite, which is a set of commerce-related design tools and transaction modules, including auctions, aggregated and distributed catalogs, exchanges, RFPs/RFQs, and structured negotiations.

The product now includes content and community modules, according to the company.
