CorProcure Picks Tech Team

[Sydney, AUSTRALIA] California-based Commerce One and SAP will provide the technology platform for the marketplace; Telstra and PricewaterhouseCoopers will deliver offshore marketplace hosting, network infrastructure and systems integration, and U.S. Web-design firm marchFIRST will provide design and navigation for the corProcure Web site and intranet.

Telstra will host the marketplace from overseas facilities in Asia, which corProcure's interim chief executive officer Cameron Moroney said would ensure the marketplace would be delivered "with optimum speed and efficiency, and new product development work already in progress by Commerce One and SAP in the delivery and application of proven e-marketplace technology [will] be maximized." Commerce One and SAP will build the engine for corProcure, Telstra and PricewaterhouseCoopers will provide the infrastructure and integration required to take the exchange to the market, and marchFIRST will deliver the look, feel and usability of the marketplace.

Moroney said corProcure had reached an agreement with SAP to form an alliance between SAP's mySAP.com marketplace and corProcure, in a move to extend the reach of both marketplaces. He said corProcure knew from the beginning it would need to contract with several technology providers. The planning for building, integration and testing of the exchange is now underway, corProcure said. "We also expect discussions with additional technology developers and providers to continue over the medium to long-term as corProcure evolves and extends its marketplace functionality," Moroney added.

"The hosting of the marketplace offshore reflected a decision to take advantage of opportunities created by new product development and rapid deployment from Commerce One and SAP which would optimise speed to market," he said.
