FileNET Releases Panagon IDM Desktop 1.0

FileNET released Panagon IDM Desktop version 1.0, its integrated document management system, first announced in January.

The software provides facilities for managing an organization's information assets across the enterprise.

"With the delivery of Panagon IDM Desktop, organizations now have access to a powerful integrated document management solution which reduces the cost of ownership for business applications that meet the demand for instant access to information," said Lee Roberts, FileNET's president and COO.

With FileNET Panagon IDM Desktop, users can access all documents stored in different networked document libraries direct from a browser. It also offers seamless integration with Microsoft Windows 95 and NT Workstation environments, and integates with Microsoft's office productivity applications.

It enables rapid application development by providing a 32-bit programming environment that supports Microsoft COM (common object model), ActiveX controls, and OLE automation standards.

Initial users include InfoAccess, which has linked its Transit Central application with FileNET Panagon IDM Desktop. With Rendition Server from Green Pasture Software, Transit Central lets users create, edit, and post documents on Web sites without any manual HTML conversion.

Various versions of FileNET Panagon IDM Desktop are available, including Web client and client/server options. The Web version is free if purchased with server applications, while the client/server versions cost between $300 to $800 per user.
