SpaceCam VideoPhone Transmits High-Speed Net Video

Play Incorporated announced SpaceCam VideoPhone, a consumer product that transmits high-speed, live video via the Internet.

The vendor said it produces a higher level of picture quality than previously available with desktop PC video cameras.

"Our goal in inventing SpaceCam was to take PC video cameras to the next level," said Mark Randall, VP Creative Development at Play Incorporated, said. "Now people can visually communicate over vast distances without the quality compromises previously associated with desktop teleconferencing."

SpaceCam gives a broadcast-television look to the presentation of the picture, with dual inset windows, titles, effects, animated graphics and transitions. It plugs into the parallel port of a PC and has been designed with Windows 98 in mind.

The product's camera has a futuristic design and features a large lens for easy focusing. Users can take advantage of an exclusive HyperGate window to drop in a graphic, sound, picture, or document that needs to be transmitted. Other SpaceCam features include video capture in compressed or non-compressed AVI format.

SpaceCam works with Windows 95 as well as Windows 98. It will be available in the summer for $139.
