HighGround Announces Latest Version of Web-Based Storage Management System

HighGround Systems announced version 2.0 of Storage Resource Manager, its Web-based reporting, alerting, and analysis application for storage resources on Windows NT-based networks.

The vendor said the system is still the only complete solution of its kind on the market.

"Storage Resource Manager is a great example of how Microsoft technologies can be used in a management application," said Microsoft's Rich Tong, VP applications product management.

"The result is a product that makes managing Windows NT disk storage easy and efficient, saves administrators time, aids in strategic storage planning, and reduces the Total Cost of Ownership of Windows NT Server."

Among the many enhancements in the new version of Storage Resource Manager is exception-based management of Windows NT disks, partitions, files, and users with network-wide thresholds on user consumption, disk partition free space, and disk defects.

The system also offers alerts via e-mail, enhanced control over network scan times and scan frequencies to fit network schedules, and group-based rollup reports for storage accounting.

Version 2.0 is scheduled for release in May 1998 in two versions: a Single Server Edition for small businesses, costing $495, and a Network Edition Server at $995 for companies with more than five Windows NT Servers.
