INTERSHOP Delivers ePages Cartridge for Hosting Edition

E-commerce software provider INTERSHOP Communications Thursday unveiled its ePages Cartridge for INTERSHOP 3 Hosting Edition, designed to allow customers to mass- deploy e-commerce solutions for small and medium sized businesses.

EPages provides self-provisioning, class-of-service functionality though a Wizard-driven browser interface. With ePages, merchants can set-up, design, implement, maintain and upgrade their own e-commerce sites without any assistance. Service Providers can also integrate ePages with their existing billing, customer-care, administration and other networked-managed systems.

"By exploiting the power of INTERSHOP 3, but with a vastly simplified user interface, ePages provides the ability for technology novices to realize the potential of e-commerce," said Gabriel Swank, product management director for the San Francisco-based company.

INTERSHOP customers planning to roll-out e-commerce services over the next few months based on ePages include MindSpring, a leading provider of Web hosting services and domain registrations with approximately 455,000 members and 18,000 Web hosting customers in the United States, and FortuneCity.com, a growing community site.

Theglobe.com, a Web community with reportedly more than six million monthly users and 1.8 million members, has already implemented a shopping community based on ePages. Theglobe.com deployed ePages in less than 60 days and its community members built over 600 stores in the first month the service was offered, INTERSHOP said.

EPages is intended to allow fully functional sites to be prepared in as little as 15 minutes. It provides up to five class-of-service configurations, allowing hosts to keep their customers as their needs grow. SPs can configure each class-of-service and price them according to a maximum number of allowed products, categories, attributes, or sub-categories.

Other features that can be turned on at each progressing level include: hot deals, image upload, global shipping and tax options, the range of store statistics and reports, global shopping basket, banner advertising, point-and-click templates and the full scope of the back office.

The ePages Cartridge for the Hosting Edition is scheduled to be available later this year for Windows NT and Sun Solaris. Pricing begins at $50,000 plus volume licensing, installation and maintenance.
