Lycos' Tripod Launches Homepage Studio

Tripod, part of the Lycos Network, unveiled Homepage Studio, a service designed for anyone with a Web browser and an Internet connection to build, edit, and promote homepages.

Among its key features are design- and topic-specific templates, such as "Photo Album" and "Recipe Book," intended to get many users off to a flying start.

Homepage Studio also offers many promotional opportunities, including e-mail postcards and a banner exchange program. Builders can increase the traffic to their sites by affiliating with Tripod's "Pods," or special interest communities.

"We pioneered homepage building in 1995, and we believe that Homepage Studio's superior features will appeal to the millions of people who want to be part of this exciting revolution," said Bo Peabody, president of Tripod.

The vendor cited a recent study from Cyber Dialog that calculates over 43 percent of the 53.5 million Internet users in the U.S. have either built a homepage already or have expressed interest in creating one. Tripod, with over 2.4 million members, hosts over 7 million personal homepages.
