By 2004, a billion people will be carrying cell phones and half of them will be wirelessly connected to the Internet. Add this to all the other emerging wireless technologies and only one conclusion seems to jump out - wireless is huge.
Penton Media, the same company who produces the Internet World events, has announced that it will hold Internet World Wireless February 20-23 in New York City. The conference will focus solely on the wireless Internet and all the opportunities it presents for business.
"By 2005, more people will be on the Internet through their wireless devices than through their old fashioned desktop PCs running Netscape or Internet Explorer," explains Carl Pugh, president, Internet Events division.
&The conference will feature speeches from Janiece Webb, Sr. VP & General Manager, Personal Networks Group, Motorola and John Zeglis, CEO of AT&T Wireless.
"The assets we have built with the Internet World franchise, coupled with a number of products Penton already has in the wireless space, positions us well to serve this important emerging market," says Megan Forrester, vice president, marketing and group show director.
In the weeks leading up to the conference, Seattle.internet.com will bring you "Wireless Wednesdays," a weekly feature of local wireless news.
