USAToday.com is reporting record-breaking traffic for 2000 with a total of 2.4 billion pageviews for the year representing a 50 percent increase over total traffic for 1999. This record is the direct result of a continuing trend in increased traffic for the site, which experienced an average monthly growth rate of 51 percent over 1999.
Beginning in August, the Arlington, Va.-based USAToday.com had four consecutive record-breaking months of traffic and set the all-time monthly traffic record in November with 263 million pageviews. During that same month, the site experienced its highest traffic day in the site's history on Nov. 8, the day after the national elections, with 15.8 million pageviews.
USAToday.com finished the year with strong traffic in December, recording 221 million pageviews, a 53 percent increase in year-over-year traffic. This increase is on par with the site's average monthly growth rate over 1999.
The site has more than 200,000 pages of breaking news, sports, money, life and weather updated 24 hours a day, seven days a week. USAToday.com is located on the Web at http://www.USAToday.com.
