  • Lycos (NASDAQ:LCOS) inks a deal with AT&T (NYSE:T) to offer Lycos Online, powered by AT&T WorldNet, a hybrid Web-online service that combines AT&T's dial-up Internet access with Lycos' content offerings and guide. A similar deal was done between Yahoo and MCI in January. Terms of the Lycos agreement are undisclosed.

  • Excite (NASDAQ:XCIT) once again proves to be the most aggressive dealmaker in the search and navigation space with a $70 million agreement with Netscape (NASDAQ:NSCP) to provide its Netcenter with a Netscape-branded search engine. Excite will pay Netscape the $70 million up front when the deal becomes effective June 1. Excite expects to gain up to 10 million more page views per day as a result. If Netscape continues to be a leading destination we think Excite could see sizable advertising deals coming its way as its traffic and users could exceed Yahoo.

  • Privately-held iVillage closes its fourth round of private financing totaling $32.5 million to help build out its The Women's Network, among female Internet users.
