Global Knowledge To Be Cabletron's Primary Trainer In Asia

Cabletron Systems, a global provider of enterprise-class networking solutions, has appointed Global Knowledge Network as its main training partner in the Asia Pacific.

As a part of the deal, Global Knowledge, an international provider of IT education, will manage the Cabletron Technical Certification Program in 11 regional countries including Australia, the ASEAN nations, Greater China, India and Korea.

"With our phenomenal growth in the region we needed to improve the geographical coverage of our training services," said Gary Workman, president of Cabletron Asia Pacific.

"Global Knowledge is a world leader in technology training and it's a pleasure to have them as our training partner," added Workman. "I am confident that our customers and channel partners will reap the benefits of intensive hands-on, practical training delivered by professionals with unique knowledge of the environment in which they operate."

According to Cabletron, the certificate program will be taught in a production network environment that is designed to help students deal with field-related issues of installation, configuration, design and problem resolution.

Program courses are categorized into two areas, Internetworking technologies and network management, including product specialist courses (CS) and a systems engineering certification course (CSE).

"Cabletron's CS and CSE programs have long been recognized for the quality of their graduates," said Robin Tan, vice president of Global Knowledge Network, Asia Pacific. "Our training specialists and region-wide classroom and examination facilities will enable Cabletron to deliver this program to more customers and channel partners, raising the level of expertise in the region."

Global knowledge has 21 subsidiaries worldwide and over 50 fixed training locations, conducting courses for Bay Networks, Cisco Systems, Microsoft, Digital, Lotus, Novell, Oracle, Intel and other major IT giants.
