According to Internet measurement firm NetValue, the number of Singapore visitors to online travel sites increased by more than 24,000 unique users across the months of January and February this year. These sites attracted 95,420 unique users in February compared to 71,330 in January.
Said Jack Loo, NetValue Singapore country manager, "There was a slight increase in the average number of sessions logged onto the travel sites, from 3.1 to 3.4 sessions across January and February 2001, respectively."
He added that the time users spent at the travel sites showed a more significant increase - from 16.8 minutes per user in January to 22.8 minutes in February.
chanbrothers.com topped the online travel sector with a reach of 2.8 percent (or 22,170 unique visitors) to travel sites in February. This represented a significant growth in visitorship, up from 14,100 Internet users in December 2000, NetValue reported.
"Time spent at chanbrothers.com also increased from an average of 9.6 minutes in December 2000 to 22.3 minutes in February 2001," Loo added.
asiatravel.com attracted 13,870 unique visitors in February, with a 1.8 percent audience reach; while lonelyplanet.com and kenair.com.sg pulled in 13,010 and 12,340 unique visitors, respectively, for the same month.
NetValue also reported that the top-three online travel banners were travelscape.com, skyauction.com and trip.com, attracting for the month of February alone 17,380, 13,200 and 12,870 unique visitors, respectively.
