HCL Infosystems does not set up its own call centers. In fact we help companies to run the centers by providing consultancy and finding possible clients in the US market, George Paul, head of marketing, HCL Infosystems said
HCL has also tied up with the US-based call center major CMS who will provide clients to the call center service providers. HCL Infosystems will provide total solution and services to the call center vendors.
Apart from marketing support HCL Infosystems would also provide consultancy services on business plan development, technical and process support as well as facility management services.
HCL has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with six business enterprises for giving consultancy in setting up of the call center business. The MoUs are for call centers to be set up one each in Mumbai, Chennai, Cochin, Mangalore and two in Kolkata.
Among the partners are Kolkata based Globsyn Webel Ltd, the joint venture between the West bengal state government company Webel and the Bikram Dasgupta led Global Synergies. Unconfirmed sources said that the other partner of HCL in Kolkata is a company named Vishnu Sugar.
According to a Nasscom (the chamber for Indian software companies) study, by
2008, the call centers in India will employ 100,000 people and will have a
turnover of $1.4 billion.
