EDS Opens E-Business Center in Hong Kong

EDS Opens E-Business Center in Hong Kong Banking on the growing need for electronic business solutions in Asia, the Hong Kong branch of Electronic Data Systems (EDS) is opening a Business Technology Center in Kowloon Bay.

"Electronic business capabilities are changing business forever - from day-to-day operations to how companies communication with their customers, suppliers and vendors," said Paul Randolph, president of EDS Electronic Business. "To remain competitive in the global market, companies in Asia-Pacific must be enable to conduct business electronically."

Globally, market research indicates electronic commerce will experience double-digit growth for the next five years becoming a US$300+ billion industry by 2003.

According to EDS, the center will have a beginning to end approach to e-business including solution-based consulting, electronic enabling of products using Web-based tools, and operational support and maintenance.

"We've seen a significant increase in demand for electronic commerce enablement throughout Asia over the last year," said Jay Davis, EDS Hong Kong's director of marketing and business development.

"The creation of the new Business Technology Center in Hong Kong allows EDS to leverage our global investment in technology and business knowledge and apply this capability in support of local business and the government," said Davis.
