Local Internet portal OzSearch Internet Guide has unveiled what it claims is the first truly Australian portal.
The site, which boasts a newly-designed interface, is out to rival the likes of Yahoo! Australia & New Zealand by offering only domestic content. With more than 10,000 sites listed at its portal, OzSearch is aiming to expand its original base of business and entertainment links to include weather, education, health, news and other content.
The solely Australian focus is "allowing us to provide more value to every user's visit," said OzSearch managing director Kris Duggan. The site currently services results to more than 3000 visitors per day.
Although OzSearch is yet to actively market its search engine/portal site, it has formed several strategic alliances to strengthen its Internet presence, according to Duggan. These new partners include car information site AutoWeb and interactive marketing agency Bertini-Murray & Co.
