RealNetworks Inc. and RPK SecureMedia Inc. Monday announced that RPK's encryptonite engine will be integrated into RealServer 8 as a standard component.

Broadcasters and content owners can use RealServer 8 with the integrated RPK encryptonite engine, and the RealServer authentication extension, to provide conditional access to protected, encrypted media.

Applications of this solution include secure, pay-per-view, live and on-demand broadcasts as well as encrypted subscription services.

"The intergration enables a whole new class of content business models by ensuring that broadcasters and content providers can seamlessly protect the transmission of programming," said Martin Plaehn, senior vice president, Media Systems, RealNetworks, Inc.
