The NYPost.com has signed a deal with iNexTV, the subsidiary of Ampex Corp. in which iNexTV would pipe streaming video from The Hollywood Reporter Minutes and The Billboard Minutes.
The news and updates might include how well Tomb Raider is doing at the box office, or where Staind's latest rock single is on Billboard's top 100. The streams will be featured on The NYPost.com's entertainment pages, including its subsidiary PageSix.com, and will start next Thursday.
The NYPost.com is rated as the seventh largest newspaper site and averages about 1.1 million visitors a month.
The exclusive deal is a plum one for iNEXTV. Not only does it get a boost from ongoing promotion of its content via the NYPost.com pages, the start-up broadband and content provider increases its distribution network and advertising inventory as well.
The deal is also a sign that the Post is pushing forward with its interactive components and plans despite a tough advertising climate and continued losses.
Last February, for example, the paper announced it would make the microfilm of its 200-year-old archives available on the Web.
