The following is a round-up of some local hotlines and sites with information about the response to New York's rescue and clean up after the terrorist attack on the World Trade Centers.

The New York Blood Center is reporting a special need for donors of Type O and Rh negative blood types. Some donor locations:

  • Manhattan: 310 E 67th Street, Citicorp Center at 53rd & Lexington Avenue, the American Red Cross Building at 150 Amsterdam Avenue at 66th Street, New York Presbyterian Hospital/Cornell Campus at 68th Street and 1st Avenue, and Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Washington Heights.

  • Brooklyn: 120 Lawrence Street from 9AM-9PM and the Sunrise Adult Day Healthcare Center at 9517 Avenue "J" from 11AM-4:30PM.

  • Staten Island: 1625 Forest Avenue from 9AM-9PM and the Seaview Hospital Rehabilitation Center at 460 Brielle Avenue from 9AM-7PM.

  • Long Island: Hofstra University Arena in Hempstead from 8AM-6PM, the Huntington Hilton on Route 110 from 8AM-6PM; and donation centers located at 3125 Veterans Highway in Bohemia from 8AM-8PM and 333 Merrick Road in Rockville Center from 8:30AM-2PM.

  • Bronx: Fordham University.

  • Rockland County: the Palisades Mall beginning at 9AM

  • Westchester County: 525 Executive Boulevard in Elmsford beginning at 7:30AM

  • New Jersey: 167 New Street in New Brunswick from 7AM-8:30PM, the Ethicon Wellness Center on Route 22 West in Somerville from 7AM-5PM, at Metlife in Convent Station from 7:30AM-1PM and the University of Medicine & Dentistry in Newark from 4-9PM.

    The United Way of New York and the New York Community Trust have established a fund to help the victims of the attacks and their families. The September 11th Fund has been set up to provide immediate support to emergency assistance agencies. Contributions will be used to respond to the urgent needs of victims and their families. Donations should be sent in care of United Way, 2 Park Ave, New York, New York, 10016, or call 212-251-4035.

    Donations are also being accepted on United Way of New York City's Web site: http://www.uwnyc.org.

    American Red Cross, cash donations: 1-800-HELP-NOW

    The Red Cross has also set up 12 shelters around the city where crisis counseling and meals are available. Ten are in Manhattan schools:
