ActiveNames Debuts E-Mail Tracker

ActiveNames Inc. Wednesday introduced a new service designed to keep up with friends and colleagues by tracking changes in users' e-mail addresses.

The ActiveNames Internet service is a free utility that automatically tracks e-mail addresses that are cancelled, abandoned, or changed and redirects messages to the new address provided for that user. Both the sender and receiver must be registered with ActiveNames, however.

ActiveNames transparently intercepts messages sent between members, verifies the most recent address on the ActiveNames server and sends the message to its correct destination. The software supports users of Windows, Macintosh, and Linux operating systems.

In today's fast-paced technological world, people change their e-mail addresses all the time, and this tool is made so that no one gets lost in cyberspace, said Nimo Steinbock, ActiveNames chief executive officer and co-founder.

"ActiveNames is the first robust global solution enabling people to remain connected to all their former, present, and future e-mail addresses (once they join), no matter how many there are or how often they change," he said.
