F5 Networks Gains Ground in Japan

IDC Japan Tuesday reported that Seattle-based F5 Networks Inc. , a provider of Internet Traffic and Content Management (iTCM) products, held top market share for the Japanese Layer 4/7 server load balancing switch and appliance market in the first half of 2001.

IDC said F5 Networks Japan K.K., based on revenue, held 22.5 percent of the market, up from 16.2 percent. Other participants in the market lost ground or remained flat.

F5's steady growth and successful market penetration in Japan is attributed to our performance-leading iTCM solutions known for their intelligence and flexibility to meet the most challenging networking demands that our customers face today," said Tim Goodwin, senior director, F5 Networks Japan K.K. "F5, for example, is the only company who could help make it possible for millions of users to reliably access NTT's DoCoMo and other mobile providers' Internet services, through their mobile phones. Internet traffic management for application optimization and high availability has become a strategic component of the network infrastructure for most enterprises and service providers supporting mission-critical applications and Web services, and F5's top ranking in this competitive market is indicative of our ongoing technology leadership and customer-centric focus."
