GoAhead Launches SelfReliant 2.0

Bellvue, Wash.-based GoAhead Software Tuesday launched SelfReliant 2.0, the latest version of its Service Availability middleware.

SelfReliant 2.0 is a cross-platform, commercial off-the-shelf solution for enabling carrier-grade availability for network infrastructure. SelfReliant runs as a middleware layer on top of an operating system. From there, it manages all critical hardware, operating system, other middleware and applications -- individually and collectively. GoAhead said it automatically detects faults and takes immediate, pre-determined actions to enable "99.999 percent" system uptime and to maintain continuity of the communication service.

"The communications industry is experiencing a paradigm shift from proprietary to open systems in order to quickly migrate to packet-based networks," said Michael O'Brien, chief executive officer of GoAhead. "This shift has created a need for easily integrated, reliable Service Availability middleware allowing manufacturers to reduce costs and time-to-market."
