MCI WorldCom Inc. and interactive services giant America Online Inc. said on Thursday they have extended and expanded their existing agreements for dial-up access services in the United States.

Under the widened relationship, MCI Worldcom Internet unit UUNET will continue to expand and manage a significant portion of AOLnet and continue to provide AOL with dial-up services on its dial access network.

"This new deal signals that UUNET has successfully met AOL's high performance measures in the past and that AOL has continued faith in our performance for the long-term," said John Sidgmore, vice chairman of MCI WorldCom and chairman of UUNET in a statement.
