In an attempt to boost services in the wake of its acquisition by America Online, Netscape Communications Wednesday debuted Netscape Site Central, a Web site building utility for its Netcenter members.
Available now in beta version, Site Central is designed to provide the tools needed for users to create and maintain a Web site without prior HTML knowledge. Features include sample templates to work from; dynamic content, including automatically-updated sports scores and news headlines; the option to make the site part of a channel and one-click uploading and launching, the firm said.
The utility is free to Netcenter members with further options including search engine registration, traffic analysis and Web site tune up, to be offered for a fee.
"Site Central provides Netcenter professionals with the tools needed to take full advantage of the Internet as a powerful means of communication," said Mike Homer, senior vice president and general manager of Netscape Netcenter.
