Macromedia Ships Director 8

Macromedia Inc. Wednesday released Director 8 Shockwave Studio, a solution for creating magnetic Internet destinations and powerful multimedia.
Director 8 simplifies the creation and delivery of Shockwave content. Macromedia also announced the Fireworks Import Xtra, which integrates Macromedia Fireworks graphics into the Director development environment.
Director 8 Shockwave Studio includes the Shockwave Multiuser Server, which provides Web developers with a solution for creating Web communities. Shockwave Player displays this immersive and interactive content on the Web. The Shockwave Player download, which includes the Macromedia Flash Player, automatically updates itself, ensuring users always play back the latest content.
The Macromedia Director 8 Shockwave Studio includes: Director 8 Shockwave Studio, Shockwave Multiuser Server 2, Fireworks 3, and sound editors BIAS Peak LE 2.1 for Macintosh or Sonic Foundry Sound Forge XP 4.5 for Windows. Users who register their product online will also be able to download 10MB of free sound clips/sound effects to use in their Director projects.
The Director 8 Shockwave Studio is priced at $999. Registered Director 7 users can upgrade to a single platform for $399, and, if they are already registered users of Director for both Macintosh and Windows, can upgrade both platforms for $699. Registered Director 5, 6, and 6.5 users can upgrade to a single platform for $499. The free Fireworks Import Xtra is now available here.
