LogicLibrary Adds Security to J2EE/.NET Tools

Key new security specification support is added, along with some other goodies in the latest refresh of Logidex.

Software asset management tools provider LogicLibrary has released Logidex 3.5 with support for a key new security specification for both J2EE (define) and .NET (define) environments.

The latest features are designed to improve the process of building and managing service oriented architectures (define). They include the WS-I Basic Profile (define), UDDI (define) governance, support for SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio, and enhanced search capabilities, LogicLibrary said.

With its compliance with the Web Services Interoperability Organization's Basic Security Profile, Logidex 3.5 will be able to addresses transport security and messaging security when building SOAs.

The WS-I Basic Profile, recently released by the Web Services Interoperability Organization (www.ws-i.org), is expected to line up with other WS-I profiles and work with some existing specifications used to provide security, including the OASIS Web Services Security 1.0 specification.

Logidex said its WS-I Basic Profile compliance means its customers, working within the integrated development environment (IDE) of their choice, can connect to and manage Logidex metadata repositories hosted on different platforms.

"As companies have begun to develop and deploy Web services and SOAs, there has been an urgent need for a single, standardized foundation that can be implemented today and built upon later as standards continue to mature," Brent Carlson, vice president of technology and co-founder of LogicLibrary, said in a statement.

"This new cross-platform interoperability functionality offers our customers the ultimate flexibility in implementing Web services and frees them of the inherent limitations of tools that cannot interoperate across .NET and J2EE."

The new tools are geared for corporate computing environments that use an increasingly diverse set of platforms. Gartner has estimated that by the end of 2007, some 95 percent of midsize to large businesses will leverage Microsoft and Java technologies as integral elements of e-business strategies.

Logidex tools integrate with the major integrated development environments (IDE), such as Microsoft's Visual Studio .NET, IBM's WebSphere Studio, IBM's Rational XDE, SAP's NetWeaver and Eclipse.
