Macromedia Updates Dreamweaver

Macromedia Inc. and Nokia Thursday released a public beta of Nokia WML Studio for Macromedia Dreamweaver.

Macromedia Dreamweaver is one of the leading visual Web authoring products available for professional Web developers. The Nokia WML Studio enables Macromedia Dreamweaver developers to create Wireless Markup Language (WML) content for delivery to Nokia wireless devices.

The Nokia WML Studio beta will be demonstrated and available for free at Macromedia's booth at Internet World UK 2000 in London, and is also available through the Macromedia Exchange for Dreamweaver.

The Nokia WML Studio for Macromedia Dreamweaver enables developers to visually create WML content through the use of drag-and-drop objects. The studio has a preview feature which shows how WML content will appear on Nokia 7100 Series WAP-enabled phones. Currently, WML content is typically created in text editors. The drag-and-drop objects will allow the 500,000+ Dreamweaver developer community to design new WML decks and cards, insert images, modify text, and implement anchors and styles within Macromedia Dreamweaver. Also included is a Macromedia Fireworks Xtra for creating small, high-quality image files for Nokia wireless devices.

Macromedia and Nokia are currently members of the WAP Forum, which is the industry association that authored the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) specification.
