Hitachi Europe, in conjunction with the UK's Electronic Commerce Association, is sponsoring an award for innovation in e-business in the finance sector at this year's BT Awards.
The winner will be announced at Electronic Commerce 98, held at London's Olympia from October 13th to 15th.
Competing for the prize are: online brokerage Charles Schwab, the Co-operative Bank, Thomas Cook (for its Web-based electronic foreign payments service), Beneficial Bank, Barclays Stockbrokers, Saxon Insurance and Barclaysquare, Cornhill Insurance and First Mutual.
"Hitachi is committed to helping enterprises open up their business processes to the Net in order to develop new markets and serve customers more efficiently," said John Bark, marketing communications manager for Hitachi's Enterprise Software Solutions Group. "This years' finalists provide excellent practical examples of the solid business benefits that financial organisations can now achieve using Internet-based technology."
The final judging for the awards has already taken place, but there will be no further news about them until Tuesday October 13th at EC98.
The BT Awards for innovation in e-business are organised by ABFL, of Droxford, Hampshire.
