Netscape Communications Tuesday released version 2.0 of BuyerXpert, its packaged enterprise application for corporate procurement.
BuyerXpert is designed to provide companies with benefits such as speed, efficiency, connectivity and control in purchasing. At the same time, Netscape entered into new relationships with other vendors, Lucent Technologies in particular, who will provide integration services for BuyerXpert.
"With today's release of Netscape BuyerXpert 2.0, our customers are poised to take advantage of the Net economy by deploying an Internet procurement application that is enterprise-ready, easy to use and focused on external interactions that deliver significant returns," said Steve Savignano, senior VP and general manager of the application products division at Netscape.
New features in BuyerXpert 2.0 include facilities that enable suppliers to trade with the buying company via any Web browser. All the necessary purchase orders, invoices, ship notices and other transaction documents can be Web forms which interface directly with the software. BuyerXpert also links to online procurement services, enabling customers to gain immediate access to services provided by external organizations.
