theglobe.com, Wave Systems: A Penny For Your Thoughts

theglobe.com network said Thursday it will team with e-commerce provider Wave Systems Corp. to provide a free personal publishing commerce service for digital content distribution on the Web.

theglobe.com will offer Wave's MyPublish community e-commerce service to its members for the promotion and selling of digital content such as personally-created newsletters, subscriptions, images, audio, video, and software to other users from their personal Web sites with theglobe.com network. The commerce service provides theglobe.com's members with a channel to merchandise and set their own prices for intellectual property.

theglobe.com will be responsible for marketing the service to members, as well as integrating Wave's MyPublish for digital content publishing, license management, and sales transaction management within theglobe.com's home page building tool. Wave will handle all of the transaction processing, billing and customer service operations for members. The two companies will share in a percentage of the revenue generated from each transaction.

"Wave and theglobe.com have opened the doors for everyone to participate in this new digital economy by providing a service that marries e-commerce with a vibrant community of users," said Steven Sprague, president of Wave Systems.

"Enabling individuals on the Web to market and sell intellectual property within their areas of interest is a very powerful way to use the Internet. It is a level of utility that until now has not been realized."

"This partnership will benefit Internet consumers by enabling Internet entrepreneurs to sell their intellectual property instantly from their personal web sites on theglobe.com without having to incur the expense or inconvenience of setting up a virtual store," stated Stephan Paternot, co-CEO of theglobe.com.
