InfoSpace.com Rolls Out ActiveShopper

InfoSpace.com this week rolled out its widely anticipated ActiveShopper service and said more than 700 portals and destination sites have already agreed to use it as their shopping application.

ActiveShopper, which offers search, product information and merchandising for millions of products and services from more than 2,500 merchants and catalogs, is now available to InfoSpace.com's affiliate network of more than 1,800 Web sites and Internet appliances.

"The combination of breakthrough technology and scalability along with the breadth and depth of decision-making services and products make ActiveShopper the most integrated shopping solution. . .," said Naveen Jain, InfoSpace.com, chairman and chief executive officer.

Merchants and catalogs available via ActiveShopper include Amazon.com, eBay, barnesandnoble.com, Outpost.com, CDNow.com, Brookstone, Critic's Choice, Hammacher Schlemmer, Harry and David, J. Jill, Jackson and Perkins, Lane Bryant, Neiman Marcus, Northwest Express, One Hanes Place, Patagonia, SelfCare, Beyond.com, Multiple Zones, Gear.com, Egghead.com, Catalog City, Commission Junction, Fogdog Sports, Reel.com, bigentertainment.com, BabyCenter, GourmetMarket.com, Value America, NetGrocer and MicroWarehouse.

ActiveShopper will include product reviews from wireless phone site Point.com and Consumer Guide.

ActiveShopper will include the newly announced ActivePromotion, an integrated private label merchandising solution that offers a way to create, test, promote and offer sales across a targeted consumer base on multiple channels through InfoSpace.com's affiliate network.

Web sites and Internet appliances using ActiveShopper as their shopping solution can give their users the ability to research, buy and obtain special promotions for products and services without leaving the site, the company said.

The application allows shoppers to look at merchandise and compare prices at retail Web sites, in off-line catalogs, in classified ads, at brick and mortar stores and at various online auctions.

Initial product categories are apparel, books and literature, communications, computer hardware, computer software, computer and video games, consumer electronics, flowers and cards, gifts and candy, home and garden, movies, video and DVDs, music, office supplies and equipment and toys and games.
