Priceline.com Inc. this week became the latest Internet play to lure an executive from corporate America.
The company late Thursday named Daniel Schulman as its new president and chief operating officer. Schulman comes to Priceline.com from AT&T Corp. where he was president of its consumer markets division.
Schulman will report to Richard Braddock, Priceline.com's chairman and chief executive officer. Schulman will be responsible for the online retailer's operations, technology, marketing and product development.
He succeeds Jesse Fink who is rejoining Walker Digital, the intellectual property lab that invented Priceline.com's pricing system which recently received a U.S. patent.
"Priceline.com has successfully made the transition from an entrepreneurial start-up to a substantial high-growth company serving millions of customers annually. Our goal is to become one of America's blue chip e-commerce companies," he said.
"In just the last quarter, our customer base grew by more than 500,000 and we are looking to Dan to continue our growth and enhance our customer support. With his level of accomplishment and experience, he brings the kind of managerial depth that will be a key success factor...".
Priceline.com allows consumers to bid on airline tickets, hotel rooms and home mortgages.
