Ernst & Young Launches E-Defense Solution

Ernst & Young LLP has delivered eDefense, an e-business security solution that helps businesses build and maintain defenses against Internet intruders and helps them construct the reliable e-commerce applications.

eDefense is comprised of five service components that allow businesses to assess their vulnerabilities, fix any newly discovered or existing gaps and develop a comprehensive incident response plan, the company said.

The cornerstone of eDefense is the Online Vulnerability Service, a subscription-based service that allows businesses to assess and track the vulnerabilities of their IT environments. The secure site allows subscribers to check the customized security status of their systems, view progress made to date in filling vulnerability gaps and confirm next steps.

Also included in the suite of eDefense services, available individually or as a bundle: Periodic Remote Vulnerability Scanning; Web-enabled Incident Response and Computer Forensics Program Development; Incident Response and Computer Forensics Training; and The eXtreme Hacking, Defending Your Site class, a program where participants learn to preempt hackers.

Price points were not disclosed.

"We continually hear from our clients that Internet vulnerability is one of the major reasons they are reluctant to move full-force into e-business," said Jon Darbyshire, national director of eSecurity Solutions for Ernst & Young.

"The eDefense Solution not only gives our clients significant peace of mind about their e-business efforts today and into the future, but the preemptive planning and readiness also greatly accelerates their time-to-market and reduces their total security-related costs."
